The expression "crisp logic" has a dual meaning. It can be used in everyday language or as a mathematical term. "Crisp logic" used in everyday language seems to be self-explanatory. It is a way of reasoning that is based on common sense and logic. It relies on facts and realistic assumptions. It signifies sound judgment with respect to conclusions, decisions, and actions. "Crisp logic" used as a mathematical term means the classical binary logic system based on two values: false (zero) and true (one). The word "crisp" is used to differentiate the classical binary logic system from the concept of "fuzzy logic" which also allows values between zero and one for indicating the degree of truth. We believe that "crisp logic", both as a way of thinking and as a logic system used in programming languages, plays an essential role in our lives, and as such deserves a little bit of glory. :-) |
